• Bitcoin Core is both the full verification node and the main wallet software I use to interact with Bitcoin. I’ve used it as a hot wallet with online computers, as a cold wallet with offline computers, and in conjunction with HWI with hardware signing devices. I’ve also contributed documentation and support to the open source project.

I especially appreciate its security, both the security that comes from full verification of Bitcoin transactions and the security that comes from changes affecting the wallet being peer reviewed by a significant number of experts. I also enjoy its power and flexible command-line (RPC-based) interface, but when it comes to normal sending and receiving of bitcoin, I almost always use its simple but effective GUI.

  • Debian GNU/Linux is the distribution of free software I’ve used most often since 2001, with it currently running on all my computers and always-on VMs.
